Lyft for Good: Lyftsgiving '14

The season of gratitude is well underway, and Lyft drivers across the country recently carried on a second year of our favorite tradition: #Lyftsgiving. From food drives to potlucks, drivers came together to give back to their communities. Here are some highlights from Thanksgiving weekend.

In Los Angeles...

Drivers began their Lyftsgiving by handing out brown-bag lunches to the homeless in Venice. Each bag contained a turkey sandwich, gravy, stuffing, water, and even pumpkin pie. “The homeless were so grateful, and our hearts were full,” said one driver.

In Detroit...

Drivers got together for a delicious meal and collected canned foods for a local charity. During their meal, they wrote down each of the things they are grateful for and hung them on display.

In Virginia Beach and in Denver...

Drivers dined together, and brought canned goods to donate. In Virginia Beach alone, they collected over 100 pounds of food for their local food bank.

In Salt Lake City and Seattle...

Drivers cooked their own dishes to share at Thanksgiving-themed potlucks.

Just as these drivers gave back to their communities and celebrated together over Thanksgiving, we look forward to seeing their spirit of giving continue through the holidays.

The Lyft for Good program grew from self-led volunteer initiatives we've seen from Lyft drivers in their communities. Lyft drivers have gone above and beyond in communities nationwide to perform these acts of kindness, so we wanted to support those efforts by creating a channel for even more drivers and passengers to give back in the future. Every two weeks, our Lyft for Good series will highlight these remarkable drivers and their impact in their communities.
