Pack Your Bags: Lyft Says Aloha to Honolulu

There’s now a new way to travel the island of O’ahu. Starting today at 7pm, Lyft is launching in Honolulu, serving every corner of Hawaii’s most populous and visited island. Whether you’re a local with a car or a visitor who normally rents one, now your new friend with a car can do the driving. Lyft will help everyone easily explore all O’ahu has to offer, from Waikiki to Pearl Harbor, and Diamond Head to the North Shore.

The peer-to-peer nature of the Lyft community fits right in with the gracious, welcoming culture of Aloha. Some of the friendly drivers in Honolulu include a competitive pool player, balloon artist and Flamenco-Island folk band member – and every new passenger receives two weeks of free rides from these local community members as part of the Lyft Honolulu launch.

We’ve also teamed up with Hawaiian Airlines in celebration of the launch to let both locals and visitors know that there’s another friendly and safe transportation option in town. Together, we helped send two Seattle Lyft passengers who used Lyft to get engaged on a trip to Hawaii for their first anniversary. Check out the video above for a peek at their surprise vacation.

Lyft passengers nationwide will have the opportunity to win a trip to O’ahu themselves – just take a ride anytime between June 5th and June 12th to be automatically entered to win a dream vacation to Honolulu, including HawaiianMiles to cover air travel, $500 Lyft credit to explore the island, and five nights at the Shoreline Waikiki Hotel.

Whether you live on the island or are planning a visit from the mainland, we look forward to seeing you in a Lyft soon!
