When it comes to awards, you’ll be hard-pressed to find one with more badass nominees than the Lyft Boss Mom Awards. In honor of Mother’s Day, we took to social media and asked you to nominate the amazing moms you know to win the title of Ultimate Boss Mom. Today, 1,300 submissions later, we’re excited to announce that our Boss Mom winner is Donna.

Donna was nominated by her daughter, Jamie, for overcoming countless obstacles and building an impressive career, all while raising her family.

Jamie nominated her mom, Donna, for being an amazing an inspiring presence in her life through adversity.

Besides winning the designation of bossest Boss Mom Ever, Donna also wins a pair of round-trip tickets to Chicago, a stay at the Hotel Lincoln, and two front-row seats at a Taylor Swift concert. As they say, being a boss has its perks.

Honorable Mentions

This is my wife Jodie. We met in 2002 on a blind date. We were just 20 years old. Less than a year later, she gave birth to our first son, Zachary. A few months after that we were wed in a modest ceremony at a city park. Baby Zachary was in her arms. After the wedding, we moved our new family to Berkeley so I could finish my degree at the University of California. Jodie worked 40+ hours a week to support our family so I could become the first in my family to finish college. At the same time, she went to school at night to finish her degree at FIDM. We had another baby in 2008, a second son named Miles. We were now a happy little family of 4. Six months later, the unthinkable happened. Zachary, now a kindergartner, was hit and killed in a crosswalk in Berkeley. We buried him on a warm March morning in Ventura, CA, where we had that blind date all those years ago. So many times after Zach's death, I wanted to fall apart. But Jodie wouldn't let me. She was strong for both of us more often than I can say. She loved baby Miles all the more. And together, we honored Zachary. We created an endowed scholarship at UC Berkeley in his name. Every year we read and select transfer and student parents to carry his memory forward as they achieve their own dreams against the odds, like we did. In this photo Jodie is holding our 3rd son, Frank Alexander, who was born in 2014. We have been married, through it all, for 12 years now. This weekend, we celebrate mothers. And while one will be missing from Jodie's celebration, I see his spirit--vital and ever present--in her beauty, strength, selflessness, and love. That is why I nominate @petalshandmade for the @lyft #bossmomawards. #mothersday #rememberingzacharymichaelcruz #ucberkeley #ventura #family

***Sung to the tune of The Fresh Prince of Bel-air theme song*** 🎶 Now this is a story all about how my Mama Bear is da bomb And I'd like to take a minute Just sit right there I'll tell you how I became the daughter Of a pretty mother named Lori B. 🎶 Nah nah I'm not going to tell how that happened I don't think anyone wants to hear those details. But I am going to poetically tell you the many reasons why my mom deserves to not only be nominated but win the #BossMomAwards ! @lyft are you ready?? Who is this magnificent woman you ask??!? A single mother, A registered nurse like no other. A bonafide bad ass, A bread winner with unlimited sass. A dinner baker, A brown bag lunch maker. A miniature Buddha with hair, A seamstress fixer of many tears. A cheerleader in the stands, A funky dancer moving with the band. A caretaker with a heart of gold, A strong willed woman who will not fold. A happy hour drinking buddy, A support system when life gets muddy. A lyrically challenged off key singer, A hysterical laugher giving me the finger. A woman with so much goodness wrapped into one, A best friend, confidant, and creator of fun. A woman who deserves everything and more, A daughter who wishes to spoil her mama Lor! My poem is nearing its end, but I still have a few more things to say my friends! I start nursing school next week after many years of hard work. However, none of my success would be possible without her constant support both emotionally and financially. I'm so thankful for her never ending love and wish I could give her the world even though I know that could never repay her for all that she has done! #BossLady #BossMomAwards @lyft #lyft #sorrythiswassolong #wewannawin #wefreakinglovetaylorswift #andcats #likealotalot @taylorswift
