Around 3.6 million Americans miss or delay medical care because they lack appropriate transportation — and with the estimated 1.7 million people that will be diagnosed with cancer this year, missed appointments are a major setback. We believe Lyft can be a part of the solution.
That’s why we’re committing to expand our Boston-based Treatment Transport partnership with Boston Cancer Support to all cities we serve by 2020. Through this program, we provide cancer patients from low-income communities with Lyft credits to receive free rides to and from treatments.
The announcement comes as part of Vice President Joe Biden’s Cancer Moonshot initiative, which brings public and private organizations together to transform cancer treatment.
We look forward to helping in the fight against cancer by making reliable, affordable transportation available to those who need it the most.
