Winter is in full effect in the Mile High City and with it comes tons of fun and festive holiday events to attend. Whether you’re looking for beautiful lights to brighten up dark winter nights or wanting to immerse yourself in the sounds, sights and smells of the season, Denver has something for everyone. Here are our top picks.
Christkindl Market - Visit Denver’s version of a traditional German Christmas market at Skyline Park at 16th St. Mall and Arapahoe St., Nov. 19 - Dec. 23. If you’re looking for a unique gift for a friend or family member, the Christkindl Market is the place to go. Boasting “a true spirit of an Old World Christmas,” this market also features scrumptious German treats (mulled wine, gingerbread, roasted almonds, etc.) and live music.
Blossoms of Light - To witness some of the best lights of the season, head to the Blossoms of Light event at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Wind your way through the gardens as you gaze upon twinkling lights of all shape, size and color. Take in plenty of the typical holiday lights in red, green, blue and gold hues, then head to the brand new field of sound-reactive, animated LED lights. Blossoms of Light can be seen Nov. 25 - Jan. 1, 2017 and tickets can be purchased here.
Holiday-Themed Performances at the Denver Center for Performing Arts (DCPA) - Soak in all the holidays have to offer at the DCPA this season. With daily showings of festive favorites like A Christmas Carol and The Nutcracker Ballet, DCPA is sure to get you, your family members and friends in the holiday spirit in no time!
Zoo Lights - Dec. 2 - Jan. 1, 2017, join the Denver Zoo for its annual Zoo Lights event. Animal-themed lights will be scattered over 70 acres at the Denver Zoo. Each night will feature various forms of entertainment, special animal exhibits, Santa encounters, and of course, lighted animal sculptures that pop up in unexpected places. We know that parking can be tricky at the Zoo and we want all attendees to get to and from Zoo Lights safely, so take a ride on us! Enjoy 20% off rides to and from the event by clicking here.
New Year’s Eve Fireworks - New Years Eve is always a magical night, but Denverites can make the night even more special by attending a fireworks show in downtown. The sky above the 16th street mall will be lit with festive fireworks with two different showings on Dec. 31st - one at 9 PM and the second at midnight.
