Chicago is well-known for its sketch and standup comedy, particularly The Second City, but what not many know about its vibrant theatre scene. On the heels of this year's Chicago Theatre Week, we're highlighting two of our favorite Chicago playhouses where you can experience some of the best Chicago has to offer.
Steppenwolf Theatre Company began performing in the mid-1970s, and since then it's grown to become a world-renowned theatre company. The ensemble is currently at 44 members, spanning a diverse and impressive group of actors, directors, and playwrights. Get over to a show at 1650 N. Halsted Street.
Next up is Windy City Playhouse which is re-defining the theatre experience with a unique space and plush seating. Each show may have a different seating arrangement, so it's a whole new experience every time you go! They're currently playing the Nell Benjamin satirical farce The Explorers Club through April 7th.
Before your next night out, head over to Hot Tix where you can find half-off tickets to over 200 shows across Chicago. The site is managed by Chicago Plays, who's always in-the-know about the city's theatre scene.
Enjoy the show!
