Do Something Different, DC

Do Something Different, DC

What do you usually do for fun in the District? Are you the person that goes to U Street to enjoy the nightlife scene? Or perhaps you’re one of the Nationals fans that can be seen all around the city the day leading up to a game? However you enjoy your free time, we’re challenging you to do something different this weekend. Here are a few of our favorite picks:

UniverSoul Circus
UniverSoul Circus is a uniquely multicultural and multinational medley of circus acts, music, theater and more. This year’s circus promises not to disappoint with a line up of everything from a Comedy Dog Act from Chile to the multi-talented ringmaster Lucky Malatsi from Johannesburg, South Africa. Whether or not you’ve been to a circus before, this is sure to be an experience like no other!

Citi Open Tennis Classic
Recognized by the ATP World Tour as one of the top 20 tournaments in the world, the Citi Open is not one to miss. 7,500 people will come together to watch some of the top tennis players compete for over $1.8 million dollars in player compensation. The best part, however, is that the Open benefits the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation, a program striving to improve the life of DC youth through tennis & other initiatives. Parking is very limited at the tennis center, so we recommend you take Lyft to save yourself the hassle.

Capital Fringe Festival
You’ve probably been to a festival or two before, but have you ever experienced a Fringe Festival? Picture your favorite festival split into 14 different locations around the city. There will be music, dance, poetry, puppetry, theatre, awards, and more. The Fringe Festival has something for everyone, so make sure to check out a couple of the locations!
