Bay Area Neighborhood Spotlight: The Mission

Bay Area Neighborhood Spotlight: The Mission

As one of San Francisco's oldest neighborhoods, the Mission District is rich with culture, history, and of course, the best burritos in the city. This week we're taking a dive into our favorite Mission hot spots. Check it out!

Dolores Park - Let's start with the obvious. Dolores Park is a local favorite for all city-goers. With roughly 16 acres of greenery, it's a top destination on any warm summer day. Enjoy a picnic, sunbathe, bring your pets, or just take in the amazing skyline view that the perched park has to offer.

El Farolito - Now back to the burritos. With so many places to choose from, it's hard to narrow down where your next meat-filled tortilla will come from. One of our favorites? El Farolito. This late night eat is home to a monstrous super burrito and quesadilla and is some of the best Mexican fare in the Bay. Just ask anyone standing in line (which is often wrapped around the block). Trust us when we say it's worth the wait.

Zeitgeist - It's no secret that Zeitgeist is one of the top picks for Mission bars.  As a winner of our 2015 Lyftie Awards, this fully-equipped dive bar and beer garden is a must-try for anyone in need of a cold one. They're also well known for their fried potatoes and Bloody Mary — which are key ingredients to happiness, if you ask us.

Clarion Alley - Want a peek into the heart of Mission District? Take a walk through Clarion Alley. This mural-decorated walkway is a storybook waiting to be read, filled with beautifully designed messages. On a lighter note, it's also your go to alley for all things Instagramable.

Valencia Street - For a little more of a modern experience, look no further than Valencia Street. This area of the Mission has blossomed into a hotspot over the past few years. A quick walk through will leave you surrounded by local boutiques, art galleries, and outdoor restaurants (shoutout to our Valencia Street friends at Tacolicious, another recipient of last year's Lyftie Awards).
