Labor Day has come and gone, but there is still plenty to look forward to in DC. This upcoming weekend doesn’t disappoint. There is something for everyone to enjoy. Snallygaster, DC's biggest, baddest beer bash returns for its fifth installment as a rollicking celebration of craft beer, fine food, music and more. For one day, they’re going to simultaneously unleash no fewer than 350 incomparable craft beers and ciders, and feature the best of the best in food trucks, music, entertainment and family fun. The Washington City Paper readers have deemed it “the Best Beer Festival in DC” in 2013, 2014 and 2015. The event takes place all day at The Yards in Southeast DC by Nats Park.
H Street Festival
Head to the annual H Street Festival in NE for one of DC’s best neighborhood festivals. Most of H Street will be closed for the festivities, so bring your walking shoes and appetite. The fun takes place all day on September 17th.
41st Annual Virginia Wine Festival
Did someone say wine? The 41st Annual Virginia Wine Festival is taking place September 17th & 18th at Bull Run Regional Park in Fairfax, VA. Gates open at 11 and close at 6 PM each day. Have a preference for local wine? Want to explore abboccato? Your palate will feel a rush of flavor notes with wine from over 40 VA Wineries, an Oyster Pavilion, and additional concessions and musical entertainment.
Fiesta DC Latino Festival has been held each year in Washington DC for 44 years. It’s an annual celebration of Latino culture that features a Parade of Nations that displays and preserves the Native Latino cultural dance troupes as well as contemporary local groups from civic organizations, schools, and performers.
With an estimated attendance of 200,000 people, Fiesta DC hosts a variety of entities that provide educational and community information to the event attendees. This plans to be chock-full of entertainment and live performances. It takes place on Saturday, September 17th and Sunday, September 18th. The parade is at 1 PM on Constitution Ave. NW between 7th and 14th and the festival is at 11 AM Pennsylvania Ave. between 3rd and 7th and end at 7 PM.
Navy Air Force Half Marathon
Head to 15th St. NW between Constitution Ave. NW and Madison Dr. NW on Sunday, September 18th to see the racers off at the Navy Air Force Half Marathon. Grab a Lyft ride to beat early morning congestion because of the Metro SafeTrack.
AT&T Nation’s Football Classic
Who’s the real HU? Find out this weekend at the AT&T Nation's Football Classic held at RFK Stadium at 3:30 PM on Saturday, September 17th. Local favorite Howard University plays Hampton University in this annual event. The Classic was created to celebrate the passion and tradition of the college football experience; recognize the history of service to others by the students, faculty and alumni of historically black colleges and universities; highlight the unity of African-American culture; and honor the heritage and excellence of these proud institutions.
