What do Joan Jett, Beyonce, Deap Valley, Caroline Smith, Madame Gandhi and Patti Smith all have in common? They're women who rock, both in music and in life. Here in LA, we’ve partnered with GIRLSCHOOL, a women-led music festival, to support women that uplift and inspire their communities every day.
GIRLSCHOOL: Music Festival and Community
For their second year in a row, GIRLSCHOOL is hosting a music festival January 27th - 29th at the Bootleg Theater, celebrating and connecting women-identified artists, leaders, and voices. In addition to an insanely good music lineup, festival goers can partake in talks, workshops, and panel discussions that are happening throughout the weekend; all in the name of positivity!
This festival also rocks because proceeds for GIRLSCHOOL 2017 will benefit Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls LA, an organization that uses loud music to nurture self-esteem and self-expression in young girls. Additionally, Lyft will donate $10 to Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls LA for every new user that takes a ride using code GIRLSROCK.
Driving and Chasing Music Dreams
We know that many drivers in our Lyft community have a side hustle and are chasing dreams while driving with Lyft. Lyft LA driver, Briagha, is one of these drivers. As an aspiring musician she says, "Lyft allows me to have the flexibility I need to be able to pursue a career within the music industry." Having the power to set her own schedule allows her to still write and perform her own music on her own time.
Date: January 27th - 29th
Location: Bootleg Theater (2220 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90057)
