One Year of Helping Philadelphia Schools

One Year of Helping Philadelphia Schools

Hooray, Lyft Philadelphia! By driving and riding with Lyft, you’ve helped raise over $2 million for Philadelphia schools.

How? One year ago Pennsylvania leaders approved a law to allow Lyft to operate in Philadelphia for good. As part of that law, a portion of every ride in Philadelphia is dedicated for funding the Philadelphia schools. So we’re just getting started — the more we drive and ride, the more we help Philadelphia schools.

But that’s not all our community is doing to support local schools and other important causes in Philadelphia.

Over the summer, Philadelphia Lyft drivers organized a school supply and backpack drive for the Lamberton School at its Back-to-School Block Party. This marks the second year drivers have taken the initiative to sponsor an area school.

“Once again, Philadelphia Lyft drivers have really stepped up to help our schools and ensure the kids at Lamberton have what they need to learn,” said Pamela Redmond, Lamberton School Principal. “Without them, some of our kids would be missing basic essentials such as backpacks, pencils and folders.”

“I love driving with Lyft because they truly are part of Philadelphia,” said driver Pamela Wingfield. “I was born and raised here, so it means a lot that they are so committed to giving back to the community.”

Thank you, Philadelphia Lyft community, for choosing to drive and ride with us, and making a difference. We’re proud to be a part of your great city.
