Meet Gayle, a 52-year old mother of four (now grown) children who she raised on her own. Gayle has given over 3,500 rides with Lyft and is one of Lyft Philadelphia's top drivers. Here's her story.
Before driving for Lyft, Gayle was a courier for USPS Priority Express. When deciding to drive for Lyft, she said “I’ve always been a driver, just went from transporting packages to people.”
Now, Gayle has been driving for almost two years and says she loves driving people. “It’s so fascinating driving these people, they have such great stories!” Gayle has also taken the opportunity to gain advice from her passengers. “I’m doing a lot of networking. I’m trying to start a food truck, so I’ve been talking to people who are doing that and can offer advice.” Gayle hopes to start a food truck serving healthy soul food.
When she's not on the road, Gayle spends her time cooking and caring of her family. “I am so into my children and my husband — I've got to care for everyone else before myself, that's my personality.”
She feels the same way about her taking care of her passengers: “You have to give to receive in this life, and you don’t need any praise for giving," she says. "You’re supposed to give.”
Thank you Gayle, for spreading care and kindness in the Philadelphia. You are a wonderful part of the Philadelphia Driver Community!
