It’s National Pride Month and the streets of San Francisco are looking more colorful than ever! While June has been filled with events celebrating equality, we’re making way for the big kahuna this weekend: San Francisco Pride. Nearly one million attendees join the event each year, making SF’s celebration one of the biggest in the nation. Joining in on festivities? Here are a few helpful tips to survive the love-filled weekend.
Know the Schedule and Parade Route
While the parade is on Sunday, celebration kicks off at noon this Saturday. Head to the Civic Center and join the movement with motivational speakers, entertainment, and vendors galore. On Sunday, find your spot on Market Street between Beale and 8th and get ready to take in the SF Pride Parade in all its glory. The event starts at 10:30 AM, so be sure to find your spot early as crowds fill in fast. Once the the parade has dispersed, head back to the Civic Center to wrap up the weekend. The celebration continues until 6 PM and closes with a speech from Australian singer and song-writer Betty Who.
Celebrate with Lyft
With a million people congregating in the city, transportation can get a little tricky. But don’t fret, we’ve got you covered! Get to and from all the events this weekend with Lyft. Here are a few ways to ease your transportation needs:
Walk a few blocks away from the crowd - getting away from the craziness before requesting a ride results in a faster pickup, lower fares, and an easier process for finding your driver.
Share a Lyft ride, split your payment - heading out with a few friends? Save time and money by sharing a Lyft ride! Learn how to split your payment.
Leave early or schedule your ride - Give yourself a little breathing room by leaving early. You can also plan in advance with our scheduled rides feature. Set, forget, and focus on the celebration.
Celebrate with Love
Isn’t that what this month is all about? We’ll be showing our love with a float in the parade! Keep an eye out for our Lyft squad. You can also celebrate by joining this month’s Round Up and Donate program. Opt in and we’ll automatically round up your fares to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to The Human Rights Campaign, America’s largest civil rights organization.
We can’t wait to celebrate with you, San Francisco. Happy Pride and don’t forget to Ride Out Loud!
