On Monday, January 15, we will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who fought tirelessly to remove inequality in our world. This is an opportunity to come together and be reminded of the importance of speaking up, living out our values, and taking action for those in need. To honor his legacy, this day has become a National Day of Service.
Service has always been an important part of Lyft. Our co-founders were each inspired in different ways while volunteering in Zimbabwe and the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, and have infused the notion of community into everything we do at Lyft. That’s why we’re excited to partner with Habitat for Humanity, an organization committed to building safe, supportive housing solutions for communities that need it most. By making home ownership accessible and affordable for low income families, Habitat for Humanity has furthered Dr King’s vision of a society based on justice, equal opportunity, and love of one’s fellow human being. We encourage you to consider choosing Habitat as a Round Up & Donate partner, and sign up to volunteer on a Habitat build in your city this year.
Each of us can also help honor the legacy of Dr. King by continuing to challenge ourselves to best serve our communities, remain grounded in what brings us together, and celebrate what makes us different.
