We are excited to announce that on Friday, November 23 we are partnering with the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation to promote Green Friday.
As an alternative to Black Friday, Green Friday encourages all San Diegans to visit a park, take a hike, or tour a canyon for the day. Did we mention that parking fees will be waived at all County Parks and preserves on Friday? It’s true! Plan to be outside this Friday and find a park near you.
To help you enjoy your outdoor adventures, we are offering $10 off 1 ride to four parks with Green Friday programming: Wilderness Gardens County Preserve, Sycamore Canyon/Goodan Ranch County Preserve, Felicita County Park, and Sweetwater Summit Regional Park.
Thanks to the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation, here are five great ways to celebrate Green Friday:
Hike Off the Turkey and Pie
9 – 11 AM, Wilderness Gardens County Preserve
14209 Highway 76, Pala, CA 92059 | 760-742-1631
This 4-mile, ranger-led hike through the preserve will climb to exhilarating vistas featuring unmatched views of Pauma Valley, Palomar Mountain and the San Luis Rey River. Learn about local plants and animals while exploring historic sites that tell the story of our region’s earliest settlers. A great way to burn calories while having fun!
Explore the Canyon with a Ranger
9 – 11 AM, Sycamore Canyon/Goodan Ranch County Preserve
16281 Sycamore Canyon Road, Poway, CA 92064 | 858-513-4737
Join a ranger on an interpretive tour of Sycamore Canyon. This popular trail is a relatively easy two miles and offers an abundance of local wildlife.
Native Tree Planting Activity
9:30 AM – 1:30 PM, Felicita County Park
742 Clarence Lane, Escondido, CA 92029 | 760-745-4379
As a part of a program to replant lost trees, the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation is planting Sycamore trees at Felicita County Park. Plant a tree you can revisit, and watch grow, for years to come. They’ll also be beautifying the creek bed with general maintenance and trash clean-up. Grab some gloves and give back to your community – and plan to get a little dirty!
2 – 3 PM, Sweetwater Summit Regional Park
3218 Summit Meadow Road, Bonita, CA 91902 | 619-472-7572
Head south to Bonita and spend a day at Sweetwater. Hike the trails, picnic near the playground, explore the amphitheater – then head to the ranger station for a meet-and-greet with real-live animal ambassadors.
See you outside this Green Friday!
