Lyft Welcomes Our First VP of Science, Elizabeth Stone

We are proud to announce that Elizabeth Stone is joining Lyft as the company’s first ever Vice President of Science. In this new position, Elizabeth will oversee our world-class research and data science organizations and the strategic framework that drives decision-making across Lyft.

Elizabeth is a critical addition to the leadership team. In addition to her cross-functional expertise and innovative way of thinking, she is a strong advocate for the value that data science brings to making better decisions and building better products to best serve our passengers and drivers.

Elizabeth Stone

Prior to joining Lyft, Elizabeth was the Chief Operating Officer at Nuna, where she was responsible for all product development teams and overall business execution. Prior to that, Elizabeth led the Data Science team at Nuna in launching the first-ever national database of Medicaid claims and developing products that measure healthcare quality. Elizabeth also spent nearly six years at Analysis Group, an economic consulting company, where she researched and supported expert testimony on the financial crisis of 2007-2009. Her areas of focus included identifying and measuring market manipulation, predicting mortgage borrower behavior, and evaluating statistical sampling methodologies. Elizabeth holds a PhD in Economics from Stanford University.

Elizabeth will work alongside Chris Lambert, Chief Technology Officer; Ran Makavy, EVP of Rideshare Technology; Peter Morelli, Vice President of Engineering; and Katie Dill, Vice President of Design, as we continue to prioritize science in our strategic business decisions.
