In honor of National Photography Month, we paired four drivers with local photographers — then set them off on photo adventures around their hometown. Each week in May, we'll head to a different city and meet a different duo. Now, let's get the adventures started...
WEEK 4 | CHICAGO - ELISE & HEATH
After a month of criss-crossing the country, we're ending our journey in Chicago, home of photographer Elise and Lyft driver Heath. Elise Swopes (@swopes) is a graphic design student at Columbia College Chicago and is part of the "iPhone only" camp, shooting and editing photos with her phone only. Heath (@iheefz), by happy coincidence, is also a photographer. For their trip, the two wandered through downtown Chicago, paying visits to Millennium Park, Shedd Aquarium, and the lakefront.
WEEK 3 | SAN FRANCISCO - MICHELE & SARAH
Adventurous duo Michele and Sarah hit new heights during their exploration of the Bay Area, photographing and walking around Billy Goat Hill and Hawk Hill — arriving right in time for those golden minutes before sunset. Photographer Michele Janezic (@mlle_michele) is brand director of Mill Mercantile and the owner of a locally-produced clothing line. Sarah (@sunshineforair) is an artist and a Lyft driver.
WEEK 1 | WASHINGTON, D.C. - GARY & ERICA
Gary hopped into Erica’s car just before sunrise. Gary Williams Jr. (@masterwilliams) is a D.C. photographer and cinematographer. Erica (@therealmanrique) works at an entertainment rental house, volunteers with at-risk youth at her church, and writes short films. The pair jetted from Georgetown to Union Market and 8th Street, capturing the people and places of their city.
