Texas: Help During Hurricane Harvey

Texas: Help During Hurricane Harvey

Post updated on 9/5

In response to the terrible devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, Lyft has pledged to donate $100,000 to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, a fund established by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. On top of this donation, our co-founders John and Logan will be driving every month and donating all earnings to the Red Cross.

As we continue to recover from Tropical Storm Harvey, the community will need access to safe transportation. With flood waters receding in many parts of the city, we’ve re-opened Lyft to help serve Houston. As a small thank you to drivers, we waived commission to those providing rides in the area while we re-opened operations.

Lyft has also coordinated food and supply drives in San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas, where local drivers collected nearly 1,000 pounds of supplies for those in need. We’re also monitoring conditions closely, in addition to speaking with community members and local officials on other ways we can continue to provide support.

If you’re looking to help those impacted, we have partnered with the American Red Cross — round up your fare on your Lyft ride between now and the end of September, and donate the difference to Red Cross response efforts. You can opt in to Round Up & Donate in the 'Settings' tab of your app.

Our hearts go out to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
