Lyft Partners with Former VP Al Gore to Promote ‘An Inconvenient Sequel’

Now, more than ever, we need to make choices that stand up for the planet. That’s why Lyft is proud to partner with former Vice President Al Gore, Participant Media, and Paramount Pictures to promote “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power,” and make it easy to reduce your impact on the environment when you and your friends go out and see this important and inspiring film. This sequel to Vice President Gore’s landmark film, “An Inconvenient Truth,” highlights how the dangers of climate change have never been greater,  but can be overcome with human ingenuity.

As part of this partnership, Lyft purchased carbon emissions offset for every mile of Line rides for the film’s opening weekend. Additionally, passengers can continue receiving discounted Lyft Line rides to see “An Inconvenient Sequel,” and we're offering Lyft Line discounts in several of our top markets.

Climate change is one of the largest challenges of our generation. Lyft has worked to tackle this challenge by creating services that bring together more people in fewer cars to dramatically reduce carbon emissions.

We’re serious about taking further action to combat climate change. That’s why we joined former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, pledging our continued commitment to the Paris climate agreement. And it’s why we followed up on that pledge by making climate commitments of our own, including that all electric autonomous vehicles operating on the Lyft platform will be powered by 100% renewable energy.

“I am heartened by the innovation and commitment displayed by Lyft and other companies at this critical time. It is another reminder that we can and will solve the climate crisis when we all work together,” commented Former Vice President Al Gore.

In order to tackle climate change, every one of us needs to do our part today, tomorrow, and every day after. Today, start by sharing a ride to “An Inconvenient Sequel.”

Join the movement.
#BeInconvenient and go see the film.
