At Lyft, we believe in a future where cities are built around people — not cars — and today we’re endorsing federal legislation to support cities with ideas to help us get there.
The Moving FIRST Act from U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto (D-N.V.) and Richard Burr (R-N.C.) establishes a program to fund innovative transportation projects in cities across the country. This will build on a similar, one-off program called the SMART Cities Challenge which ended last year.
Here are some interesting ideas that could become reality in your city if this bill becomes law:
Projects like these reduce carbon emissions, improve quality of life, and increase access to opportunity. But many never happen due to lack of funding. The Moving FIRST Act can change that and we encourage you to ask your representatives in Washington to support it.
