Lyft’s mission is to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation. To achieve this mission, the best and brightest — from all backgrounds and perspectives — must be given the opportunity to contribute. Today, we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Udacity to offer 400 scholarships over the next year for Udacity’s new “Intro to Self-Driving Cars” Nanodegree program.
Diversity is crucial for creating solutions that serve everyone, and ridesharing is for everyone. That’s why these scholarships will specifically target communities that are underrepresented in technology in the US.
We will also provide mentorship opportunities through the Level 5 Engineering Center, which is home to Lyft’s self-driving division, as well as career opportunities to top graduates of Udacity’s degree programs.
“Intro to Self-Driving Cars” is accessible to anyone with minimal programming experience, and will cover the essentials of self-driving tech, which include machine learning, object-oriented programming, and probabilistic robotics.
