A Note From Sam Bond, Lyft Atlanta General Manager, This Military Appreciation Month

May is Military Appreciation Month, and I could not be more proud to work for a company like Lyft, who has decided to support the USO — a longtime and well-known supporter of the US military — as the initial partner for our Round Up & Donate feature. As a two-tour combat veteran, I know firsthand how valuable the connections and support provided by the USO are to servicemembers and their families. Now, anyone* taking a Lyft ride will have the option to round up their fare to the nearest dollar, with the incremental amount being donated to the USO on their behalf.

Here in Atlanta, more than one out of every ten Lyft drivers is a veteran — meaning the participation in Round Up & Donate here will very likely impact the servicemembers and future veterans who are sacrificing on behalf of all of us every day. In addition to this support, the local Lyft team is organizing activities and thank yous to our veteran drivers during Military Appreciation Month and beyond. Stay tuned for more information about those programs, as well as for stories and notes from veteran passengers and drivers in the Lyft community.

And on a personal level, I’d like to say thank you — to the servicemembers, veterans, and their families in Atlanta and everywhere. Your sacrifices are appreciated and we are grateful for them every day.

Semper Fidelis,

Sam Bond
General Manager, Lyft Atlanta, USMCR
