Whether you’re visiting a new place or earning towards a career goal as a driver, we want you to get there as quickly as possible.
That’s why we recently participated in My Brother’s Keeper Alliance’s Pathways to Success job fair in Detroit. Born out of President Obama’s call to expand career opportunities for boys and young men of color, My Brother’s Keeper Alliance connects public, private, and nonprofit organizations with youth looking to plan their futures.
At the event, our team members spoke with young men about their futures and how driving with Lyft might help them achieve their goals — from saving for higher education to developing hospitality skills as they network with people in their community.
For those who didn’t have access to a car, we introduced them to Express Drive: our affordable, short-term leasing program that’s available in Detroit and a dozen other cities.
“We’re grateful organizations like Lyft stepped up to the plate to provide new entrepreneurial opportunities for young men of color in Detroit,” said Tammy Carnrike, Chief Operating Officer of Detroit Regional Chamber.
“The discounted rides Lyft offered attendees allowed the next generation of Detroit to more easily access a path to success,” added Blair Taylor, CEO of My Brother’s Keeper Alliance. “Lyft’s mission and focus on inclusive opportunity make them a natural corporate partner for My Brother’s Keeper Alliance.”
We’re proud to be a part of My Brother’s Keeper Alliance’s work in Detroit and across the country. And we couldn’t be more excited to join them in more Pathways to Success job fairs in Newark, Albuquerque, Memphis, and more this year.
