Introducing Lyft profiles, a new feature that gives passengers and drivers the option to share fun facts about themselves and discover mutual friends and interests.
Profiles launches today for iOS users, with Android soon to follow. Filling out a profile is optional, so you can share as little or as much as you want.
Every profile comes with space for a hometown, favorite music, and mini bio. We chose hometown because we know roots grow deep. We added favorite music because music is both a universal and personal connector. As for the open “About me” section, that space we leave entirely up to you. Driver profiles include extras such as star rating and ride count.
To view your profile, tap on the menu button in the top-left corner of the app. Your profile will be at the top, and from there you can tap in to edit it and make it your own.
In cities with Lyft Line, we’ve heard countless stories of Line passengers connecting over shared interests or acquaintances. Profiles makes unearthing these small-world connections even easier, and is a big step toward our vision of reconnecting people and communities through better transportation.
Update to the latest version of the app to fill out your profile.
Post updated from being a first-look announcement (“A First Look at Lyft Profiles" on March 26, 2015) and republished on March 31 to announce the official launch of profiles.
