This spring, we introduced Round Up & Donate to give you the choice to round up each fare to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to a charitable cause of your choice. To date, over 40,000 Lyft passengers have donated over $100,000 to the USO and HRC, in support of our veteran and LGBTQ+ communities. Today, we’re excited to add the ACLU as our newest partner.
Who You’re Helping
For 100 years, the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation (ACLU) has worked to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States. As we celebrate freedom and independence this July 4th — and every month this year — we stand firmly with the ACLU in their mission to defend individual liberties for every person.
We believe everyone should feel welcome in a Lyft ride, no matter which seat they’re sitting in. Alongside the ACLU, we can help preserve the rights of every member of the Lyft community. For our part, Lyft has committed to donating $1,000,000 to the ACLU over the next 4 years.
How It Works
Make sure you have the latest version of the Lyft app. To update your cause, tap ‘Round Up & Donate’ in the ‘Settings’ tab of your app. Simply tap the cause you’d like to support, and switch it up whenever you want.
Haven’t opted in yet? Go to ‘Settings’ in your app and tap ‘Round Up & Donate.’ Then follow the instructions in the app to turn it on and start rounding up your fares.
Your Bit Goes Far
Whether you request twice a day or once a week, each ride can make an impact. On average, Round Up & Donate adds just a few dollars per month. But when millions of us sit for something together, our collective action can make a difference. So far, over 40,000 members of the Lyft community have donated over $100,000.
