The future of ridesharing in Austin will be determined by voters on May 7th.
A vote for Proposition 1 ensures that Lyft will continue to operate in Austin, under regulations set in place by the city council and Mayor Leffingwell in 2014. Leffingwell is one of many Prop 1 supporters.
Josh Baer, founder of the Capital Factory, and Dan Graham, founder of Notley Ventures and Buildasign, wrote a piece explaining the issue and encouraging Austin the tech scene to vote for Prop 1. The University of Texas student government voted almost unanimously in support of Prop 1, while both the Austin Chamber of Commerce and Real Estate Council of Austin released statements in favor of Prop 1.
Now Taylor Kitsch, of Friday Night Lights fame, has joined the ranks to show his support for Lyft and Prop 1. The actor teamed up with the RideSharing Works campaign to get the word out about the election — check out the video below.
