Atlanta Lyft driver Lenie is a rock for her three kids. From helping them study to driving them to acting classes, Lenie does it all. Driving with Lyft allows her to work on her time, so she can “contribute to the family dynamic financially, physically, emotionally and mentally.”
We caught up with the busy mom to get her Lyft story:
Q: Why did you first start driving with Lyft?
A: When my son started acting I was a stay at home mom and I needed additional income.
Q: What's been your favorite Lyft ride or experience?
A: I picked up a local comedian from a bar and we started talking. We ended up talking about his childhood and ADHD. I told him how I worked with my kids, supported them, and how they are doing amazing things. I started crying, he started crying, and we were both crying in a ride that had ended 40 minutes ago. In the end he said "Can I just give you a hug?" That made me cry again and we hugged it out and I moved onto my next Lyft ride!
Q: Describe what the vibe is like inside your Lyft ride. Do you do anything special for passengers?
A: I ask my passengers a couple of key questions about their lives and 80% of the time I end up learning more about them than most people do. I had a therapist tell me while riding in a Lyft ride with me that my voice is soothing and calm and it made her want to talk to me.
Q: What's the most memorable thing a passenger has ever done for you?
A: I met with a passenger outside of a ride for lunch to teach her the art of extreme couponing and she gifted me with a book for my efforts. That was pretty amazing!
